About the programme
The crisis and isolation that we endure because of Covid-19 have resulted in days looking much the same for the youth of Europe. However, isolation does not mean the end of engagement and that the voices of youth shouldn’t be heard – quite the contrary!
Which new questions, concerns and beliefs about Europe do we get from isolation and pandemic, both politically and culturally? And how are these perspectives different among youths in Europe? With the purpose to create a European youth dialogue and sharing of experience and knowledge in the light of the crisis, Nyt Europa is hosting an online program for youths around Europe. The program consists of 7 different online labs and larger thematic conferences that will educate 25 youths from Europe, giving them practical skills and knowledge about the situation that our society goes through.
The 7 labs and conferences will run for about 8 weeks with 1 event pr. week and will be hosted by professional trainers such as activists, journalists, civil actors and experts. The online labs will be interactive and guided by the principles of non-formal learning. It is expected that participants attend in the full program and are present in all online events.
Purpose of programme
Do you have concerns, anxiety, questions or maybe new hopes, beliefs and faith due to the crisis? And is it hard for you to process and share them? This programme will give you the chance to discuss, debate, learn and share with youths that are in the same situation as you, and will help you making your concerns, questions and hopes more concrete and a tool for progressive change.
The programme is created in the light of Covid-19, which makes it a unique course to be useful in not only future crises but also useful for your personal experience. It offers essential knowledge to focus on during the crisis, such as fundamental human rights, media literacy and online activism, as well as practical skills that will enable you to communicate your knowledge, your perspective and your story.
With this programme we seek to engage young people around Europe to participate in the debate and create a European dialogue among youths which is crucial in the light of a global crisis. The civic and political debate needs youth engagement, but more important is that youths need activity, commitment and network – fundamental things that they are missing due to isolation.
The programme will educate 25 young people from Europe, enabling them to be changemakers in the civic debate in Europe and reinforcing the tools to navigate in these uncertain times of isolation. The crisis does not only lead to the need of politicians to act, but also leads to the importance of citizens – especially the youth - to engage in the various debates and dialogues that arise as result of the crisis. How is society changed after the crisis? What does the crisis do to people and will the way we perceive things fundamentally be changed? Furthermore, nationalism is a threat in the times of a global crisis where borders are closed and the national ways of handling the situation are constantly compared to each other. It is more than ever crucial that we keep communicating, inspiring and sharing knowledge across borders.
We expect you to participate in all events. After the programme, you will get a certificate if you have participated in the full programme.
This is your chance to not only be engaged and activated but also to make use of the situation and crisis by learning from it.
